"Joys of Giving" is a community initiative started by Vanesha (age 11) and Varshini (age 9) in 2016, to bring joy to anyone who is in need. We have learned over time that giving and sharing joy in any form helps us become better empathetic humans and also work on fulfilling our civic responsibilities in the community. We believe there is so much joy when we give (even if its the smallest and simplest thing!) and see a smile on people's faces. Over last few years, as part of our giving tradition we have raised over 10k with the help of our generous friends for various non-profits.
"Joy" is a word which means different things to different people. The most basic external expression of 'Joy' is a 'Smile' and many people simply don't seem to have it for many unknown reasons. For homeless, it means basic necessities, for orphans it means affection, for lonely kids it means penpals, for disabled it means acceptance and so on and so forth. Our basic goal with this initiative is to bring joy in different forms and to reach people with different needs and identify the biggest gaps in the community. We want to start with narrowing down our focus on education and technology since in the next several years we will see major technology trends that will change how we view education - be it the earliest influence starting from children or the seniors who need help and a human connection. Ofcourse, none of this will be possible without help from a huge community. We know a lot of friends who want to GIVE but are not sure what non-profits need it most and their challenges with fundraising. Our goal is to identify specific needs of non-profits in our community where there is a greatest need, raise awareness, research their projects and help raise donations.
"Its good to be blessed but its great to be a BLESSING!"
