About

"At the end of the day, its not about what you have or even what you've accomplished. Its about who you've lifted up. Who you've made better. Its about what you've given back." - Denzel Washington

Mission: Joys of Giving is dedicated to making a difference in the life of anyone in need especially the underserved in our local community and around the world! Our vision is focused on doing our part in fighting educational inequity especially for underserved and encouraging more girls in STEM (gender disparity) and youth hunger. We strongly believe that education and having access to a meal should be a basic right and not a privilege!

Executive Team: Meet the Founders

Vanesha Hari is the co-founder and CEO of Joys of Giving. She is a student in High School and is passionate about educational equity. Over several family trips to India, she noticed several girls working at homes to financially support their families. She began to wonder why kids as young as 10 years old would not be getting school education instead? Later when she was back to Seattle, she also witnessed women homelessness (Seattle #3 for homelessness in nation) and underserved youth in foster homes with no basic necessities. Several such incidents which didn't seem normal and fair, led to the birth of 'Joys of Giving' with a simple intention of helping others and more specifically minorities and underserved to have education as a basic right in their lives.

In addition to founding this nonprofit Joys of Giving for fundraising, she wants to have a direct impact on the inclusion and diversity in STEM. She continues to research, utilize creative talents, outreach and raise funds to help the betterment of the society we live in and bring gender equality in STEM!

Varshini Hari is the co-founder and COO of Joys of Giving. She is a student in Middle School and was inspired to help the community when she first saw several children unable to afford basic privileges like healthy nutritious meals few times a day or books to read! Her visits to India and witnessing young kids working at homes and doing chores instead of having school education, also equally inpired and triggered her to found 'Joys of Giving' to bring educational equity. She loves to bring her passion of culinary arts and help with outreach and fundraising leadership activities! She has been baking since she was 6 years old and loves to experiement with art of baking and how to infuse science and creativity when she teaches baking skills to other kids. She is also an avid STEAMnist with a passion to fade gender boundaries in STEM fields and aspires to outreach and bring more minorities to have the same opportunities as everyone else. She strongly believes that no one should be left behind!
